Junior Presentation 2008
Details for the 2008 Junior Presentation are now available online here.
Under 7 Devils Report - Saturday 9th August
Under 7 Devils vs Tinonee Eagles

What a glorious day out at Tinonee. Our game wasn't until 10.40am so the parents and children all had been able to grab a sleep in if they wanted.

Unfortunately our coach Mark  and Payton were both away so Manager Kim ran the team. We had one substitute and rotated the team so that everyone was off twice during the match.

Tinonee had the home advantage and kicked off first in the Westerly direction. The Devils played marvellous positional play all match. First to find the back of the net was Justo, quickly followed by Mighty Mouse Matthew, Jumping Josh and Persevering Pat. Luke and Jackson played great defence and set up many  goals during the course of this match.

Manager Kim was puffed out at half time and had a red frog lolly to boost her energy levels. At one stage the Devils had control of the ball and seemed to want Kim to play too as the ball rolled her way and followed her along the side line for a while - quite funny, I am sure to have witnessed Kim running from the ball.

A fantastic result with the back of the net being found by the Devils many times.

Belated birthday wishes to Josh (4th July), Paton (11th July) and
Matthew (31st July)

Kim will be in touch with all Devils families to confirm time and date if there is a game next week.  See you all at training Thursday 4-30pm.

GROUND SET UP & MANAGEMENT

Anthony Beckett has taken on the “new” role of Ground Manager for 2008. He is looking to put in place a roster system of several teams of helpers to help alleviate the amount of work that a small band of people usually do every Saturday.

If you can afford some time on a Saturday morning from 7.30am Anthony will gratefully accept your help. All it entails is putting up the nets for the junior & senior teams, erecting the dug outs on Premier League days and putting up the sidelines rope barrier.

This takes approximately 45 minutes to do and is of great importance to the professionalism of our club. It’s also a great way for new people to the club to meet other members.

CANTEEN

As usual again this year we will have our container canteen in operation. The Canteen Co-Ordinator is Julie Buining and it is one of our most important fund raisers for our club.

When we have all the information about our full list of home games to be played, Julie will be nominating dates on Saturday’s when volunteers from individual teams will be required to work in the canteen.

The coaches of the teams will be contacted during the season and that team MUST supply volunteers for the nominated day. This concept has worked really well for the last couple of years we will be implementing the same format again this year.

So remember to make sure that you keep yourself free for one or two Saturday’s during the year, WE NEED YOU, senior’s included!!!!!!

PREMIER LEAGUE & OVER 35’s.

Once again this year we will be fielding Reserve Grade & First Grade teams in the FMNC Premier League Competition. This competition takes in teams from the Great Lakes, Taree, Wauchope, Port Macquarie and Kempsey areas.

Training starts on Monday, 11th February under the guidance of Coaches Paul Berg and Paul Ivers. We are expecting an excellent turnout with some new faces appearing, we welcome you all to our club.

Paul & Paul once again come together after taking the First and Reserve Grade teams to the Grand Final 2006. Bergie also took First Grade and Reserve grade, along with Frank Micaleff to the Final’s in 2007.

We’re all looking forward to another fabulous season from both grades.

Our Over 35’s team seems to be going from strength to strength following their 5th consecutive premiership win in 2007. Interest is also at an all time high with many a player wanting to become involved and for the time last year we fielded two (2) teams.

Enquiries for Premier League Over 35’s can be made via Warren Lambert on 6552 2334, Anthony Beckett on 6553 7722, Paul Berg on 6551 5201 or Paul Ivers on 6553 3636.

TUESDAY NIGHT TREASURE CHEST RAFFLES

This night is the main fundraising activity for our club and is also generously sponsored by Club Old Bar. We need the help of people once every six (6) weeks who can help run the raffles that start at 5.30pm. Once again, PLEASE think about offering your support to* helping and also attending. Anyone who can help should contact Gary Dobinson.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH YOUR MONEY

One of the most asked questions by parents and members is “what happens the money we pay during the season for registration and match fees?”. So to keep you all in the picture, I’m going to try and answer that question.

Before I do that, please be aware that this year the fees were increased by FFA and FMNC, however the 2008 committee has chosen NOT to pass on those increases to our fees for 2008.

1. The majority of the registration fees paid goes back to the Football Mid North Coast. OBBFC makes about, on average, $6.00 per member in 2008,

2. Of the match fees paid each week, we have to pay for the Referee Fees and we also have some Administration Fees to pay to the FMNC,

3. What money that is left over from the weekly match and referee fees goes towards the Presentation Days, at the end of the season,

4. The Presentation Day for Junior’s costs us in the vicinity of $5,000 in 2007. For the seniors it’s around $2,000'

5. In 2007 our lighting bill came to just under $3,000,

6. In 2008 we have replaced the whole of our playing strips at a cost of over $8,000,

7. We have as many as 80 training balls at a cost of around $1,200 to account for and we also have to provide match balls at a cost of $500,

8. It costs us $500 per year for line markings.

WHAT DOES IT COST

A breakdown of the costs involved during a year playing football/soccer has revealed some interesting information.

Compared to a lot of other sports/interests that our children have, football/soccer compares more than favorably when looking at the weekly costs.

5-9 Year 10-17 years
Registration $66 $90
Shorts & Socks $27 $27
Game Fees $64 $80
Footwear $30 $40
Shin Guards $10 $15
YEARLY TOTAL $197 $252
WEEKLY $12.31 $15.70
