Under 9 Barbarians
Wednesday, March 3rd, 201028th August 2010
This windy morning we travelled to Lansdowne. We were one player down and asked young Harry Sherry to play for us and give us a hand. The Barbarians played brilliant team soccer today, with accurate passes and great ball control. The match was superb to watch.
Patrick Moses, Molly Arens and Max Lynch all scored three goals each, with Cooper Earley and Adam Kreuzberger scoring 2 a piece. Our excellent “ring in” Harry scored a ripper of a goal towards the end of the second half.
Our forward Jessica Brien was unlucky not to get her attempts into the back of the net but was a key player in a corner conversion, placing the ball perfectly for her team.
This season has been exceptional with all players improving each and every week. We say a huge thank you to our coach Jeff for your time, commitment and skill drills. Your knowledge of the game is invaluable.
Also a might thanks to the parents, carers, grandparents, committee and everyone who supported our team this year. The games would not have been the same without your dedication to the children.
See you all at training Monday, remember kids to bring your parents along with sandshoes and energy for our friendly game to end the season.
Barbarians 9’s Match Report21st August 2010
This windy morning we were at home to Wingham. Today’s game was a good match up with Wingham shutting us down several times in the first half. They were fast and had the wind in their favour. This made it tricky, as once the ball was in the air it was unpredictable and sometimes difficult to gain control of.
Nick was our goalie for both halves today and did an exceptional job of keeping the Wingham kicks out of the net – great work Nick!
Max, Molly and Patrick all managed to boot the ball into the back of the net in superb style, with the assistance of the backs – Adam and Cooper. These tow boys are very accurate with the ball and have a very strong, long kick which gains the team valuable ground.
However the moment of the day went to Jess, as she scored her very first goal and had the 30 strong crowd of Barbarian supporters up on their feet cheering! Congratulations Jess.
See you all at training Monday.
Barbarians 9’s Match Report
14th August 2010
What a glorious morning at Old Bar. Today we played the Taree Jags.
The large supporting crowd witnessed a brilliant hat-trick in the first half by our Might Max Lynch who played extremely well today in defence and attack.
Cooper Earley was goalie during the first half and came out with determination after half time to score a cracker of a goal. He continued to play very well on the wing and in the middle making some very clever passes and attacks.
Jessica Brien playing up front today, passed very well, gaining position often during the first half and kept vigil as goalie during the second half of today’s match.
Adam Kreuzberger displayed brilliant capability with his clearance kicks and knows when to just tap the ball forward to a team-mate or boot the ball from one of the field to the other gaining great advantage for the Barbarians.
Molly Arens may have seen a few stars after receiving a heavy blow to the eye from the ball, but there is no keeping her down, she was up and about after the magic water did its trick.
Nick Duggan and Patrick Moses combined well and made some brilliant manoeuvres which resulted in some impressive football.
Thanks to the referee and Jag’s for a fair and very enjoyable morning of football.

A very big thank you to the under 10 Old Bar Team who gave us an opportunity for a game today as the team we were meant to play didn’t show.
The under 9’s had a great time and were pretty tired after playing on a larger field but there were big smiles glowing on all the children faces.
Thank you to the parents/carers and extended families for supporting the children in their sport.
7th August 2010
A supporting crowd of over 22 family members and friends were witness to yet another brilliant game from the under 9 Barbarian’s. This week we played Tinonee at their home field. It was a nice day with the clouds dispersing by the time the Barbarians kicked off.
Our goalies in this game were Nick Duggan and Molly Arens. The Barbarian’s played very well again this week with many fantastically placed passes resulting in superb goals.
Mighty Max Lynch displayed very mature play with his accurate passes to the centre of the field. Our forward Jessica Brien came awfully close to scoring a goal today but the conditions were a little slippery and the ball just slipped past the post on the wrong side – never mind Jess, better luck next time!
Hero Harrison Mactaggart scored another super goal this week and, as always the smile said it all – he was stoked. Patrick Moses continues to be a good all round player and is proving quite speedy, covering a lot of the field today.
Molly Arens is great in her defence and attack. Her involvement with representative team play and training is definitely showing and our coach Jeff brings advanced training skills every week, assisting the children in the rules and varying techniques to assist in their game.
Our back, young Adam Kreuzberger displays incredible foresight when booting the ball to the front of play; he knows when to kick the ball and where it should go to best suit the flow of the game.
Without the wonderful commitment from the coach, parents and carers, days like today just wouldn’t happen. Thank you everyone for helping this team of terrific kids be active end enjoy the wonderful world game of football (soccer).
24th July 2010
With a match up against our home rivals – Old Bar Gladiators, we played at Old Bar this week.
The first goal scored today was from our always happy, Hero Harrison Mactaggart who showed brilliant ball skills, lining up and shooting a brilliant ball into the back of the net – Yeehah Hero! (photo of our Happy Harrison)
Barbarian’s first half goalie was Nick Duggan who was ever watchful of the ball. During the second half Nick played very well and was involved in many passes, setting up a few more goals.
Cooper Earley was moved into the striker position during the second half and made some absolutely fantastic manoeuvres with the ball, weaving between the opposition to have the ball almost into the back of the net a few times.
Patrick Moses has certainly got the side line throw-in under control and manages some very accurate passes. During this game he also headed several balls with good field placement.
Joining Harrison, Max Lynch, Patrick and Molly Arens all scored in this fast and slippery game. The field was quite boggy and had a few lumps and bumps which added to the excitement and unpredictable bounce of the ball.
Second half goalie was shared between Jessica Brien and Adam Kreuzberger who both played a great game in both halves. During this half young Molly had a heavy fall, but there is NO keeping our Miss Molly down, she was up and on the field in a few moments to then quickly gain possession of the ball and score a fantastic goal.
Great work Barbarians – you amaze the spectators, your coach and I each and every week. This weekend 31st July we play at Old Bar at 9am – warm ups etc at 8-30am.
See you at training.
